Patrick L. Tuttle, beloved son of the late John and Joan Tuttle (Ryan), died December 29, 2022 at OSU East Hospital. He passed away unexpectedly at the age of 68.
Born and raised in
Columbus, Ohio, Patrick attended St. James the Less Catholic School and St. Francis DeSales High School and graduated in the class of 1973. After high school, Patrick enlisted and served in the United States Army, after which he met his spouse, Kelly. They were married for 16 years and had four children.
For 40 years, Patrick worked as a self-employed bricklayer and mason. He was exceptionally gifted and skilled in his field of work and considered it part of his purpose in life. He stood out for his creativity, tireless hard work, and the pride he took in every job he completed. Patrick worked all over central Ohio, but much of his work can be admired in areas such as Upper Arlington, Bexley, and German Village. For Patrick, it was not just about "laying bricks", it was about bringing to life a vision and doing it for each client passionately.
The most important things in life to Patrick were his faith and family. He was authentically devoted to God and his catholic faith permeated every aspect of his life.It was his desire that everyone could experience the love and mercy of God. Patrick was whole-heartedly dedicated to his family. It was always important to him that he was surrounded by loved ones, extended family, and friends. He especially cherished the time he was able to spend with his children.
Through the years, Patrick was known for his athleticism and enthusiasm for sports. He especially enjoyed playing golf, basketball, and softball. His favorite sport was football and he loved watching the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Cincinnati Bengals. For a number of years, Patrick spent every week playing softball at Tuttle Park on the Fat City team. He had many fond memories and fun times celebrating after the games at the Varsity Club.
One of the gifts and talents that Patrick had was his ability to share his love for athletics with others through coaching. Over the years, he was a baseball and basketball coach for elementary and middle school teams. He touched many lives through his passion for coaching. What he passed on to his athletes was more than just the mechanics of the game, it was the skills they could take with them for the rest of their lives.
Patrick is survived by his beloved children Byron (Ed), Katie, Ben, and Spencer; his loving siblings Rick, Joanie (Bill), Gerry (Laurie), Mary (Dave), Mike (Tami), and Tom (Sheila); his former wife and friend, Kelly; and numerous cousins, nephews, nieces, in-laws, and friends.
