Patsy Winona Metcalf

Patsy Winona (Matthews) Metcalf, 92, of Alvarado, Texas, passed away on Saturday, April
12, 2025.
Services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. on Thursday, May 1, 2025 in the Clayton Kay
Vaughan Alvarado chapel. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. on

Patsy was born to William Raymond Matthews and Jessie Winona (Hill) Matthews on
March 25, 1933 in Alvarado, Texas. Patsy married William Chester Metcalf on March 4,
1950 in Alvarado. Patsy proudly served the home front as a loving wife to Chester, and
mother to their two children, Craig and Jennifer, supporting their careers and aspirations
throughout her long and rewarding life of 92 years. She briefly worked for AAA Auto
Insurance Company, Dallas, Texas, in the 1970's to help support her family. She was of
the Methodist faith and loved Jesus. Patsy was well known for her love of nature,
particularly her hummingbird garden and the numerous cats she lovingly adopted over her
many years. She loved travel! Patsy's first taste of international adventure occurred by
way of the Queen Mary sailing from New York to Portsmouth, England in the early
1950's. As a young new bride, she joined her husband at his overseas commands, RAF
Lakenheath and RAF Mildenhall. With her husband, children, grandchildren, and other
family members and friends, she returned to England many times over the years to explore
and expand on the adventures of her early teenage years. All who traveled with "Patsy -
Mom - Mimi" forged cherished and lasting memories that will forever remain with us. As
most know, Elvis was always in the house, literally! She had more Elvis paraphernalia
than Graceland. Patsy traveled with family and friends extensively over the years to
Graceland for Tribute Week. She enjoyed listening to his gospel music daily. Patsy was a
loving wife, mother, and friend to many. She will be missed greatly by all who knew and
loved her.
Patsy was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, granddaughter Sara Ashley
Metcalf, grandson Dustin Alt; brother-in-law, Jim Watson; and son-in-law, Henry Walker,
Jr. Survivors include son, Craig Metcalf and his wife, Bobbie; daughter, Jennifer Walker
and her fiance Tracy Harris; grandchildren, David Alt and his wife, Tiffany, and Katie
Metcalf; great grandchildren, Cataleya and Dahlia Alt, and Bella and Charlie Gorney and
mom Danielle Bingert; brother, Donald Ray Matthews and his wife Shirley; sisters and brothers-in-law,
Patsy Watson, and Sandra and Joe Bitz; several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of other
relatives and loving friends.
