Patricia Blair “Patsy” Parks, 74 of Newberry, wife of James R. “Jim” Parks went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, December 17, 2022.
Born on August 27, 1948, Patsy was the daughter of the late W.C. “Billy” and Minnie Dodd Blair of Sharon, S.C. She graduated from Lockhart High School in 1966 and received her Bachelors degree from Limestone College. She was a former employee of Owens-Illinois (PCA) and retired from the School District of Newberry County. Patsy grew up in Bullock Creek Presbyterian Church with a strong Christian upbringing . She had perfect attendance in Sunday School for over 13 years. Mrs. Parks was a member of First Baptist Church of Newberry for 35 years, having joined that family of believers in 1987. While a member there, she served on various committees, taught Sunday School, was a member of the Sanctuary Choir, and on occasion would fill in as pianist and organist. She was currently a member of the C.A.R.T. Team . She loved her church and her church family.
She leaves behind her husband of 55 years, Jim Parks, and her precious children and grandchildren whom she loved dearly; Chris, Amy, Whitney and Wyatt Parks of Newberry and Susan, Roy, Reilly, and Emma Blair Stenstrom of Lexington. She is survived by a brother, Jimmy (Judy) Blair of Lockhart; a sister-in-law, Sharon Blair of Brandon Mississippi; her husbands family whom she loved as her own, and a host of nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Dr. William D. Blair.
Memorial services will be conducted at 2:00 pm Wednesday, December 21, 2022 at First Baptist Church. The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall. The family requests that those desiring may make memorials to the First Baptist Church Kingdom Advance Building Fund, 1020 Boundary Street, Newberry, SC 29108.
