Patti Sue Bischof, a nurse leader, beloved daughter, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 9, 2025, surrounded by her loving family after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Born on June 10, 1958, in Louisville, Kentucky, Patti was a beacon of strength, compassion, and grace throughout her life.
Raised in Clarksville, Indiana, Patti was a graduate of Our Lady of Providence High School, Class of 1976. She went on to earn her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Spalding University in 1980 and her Master of Science in Nursing from Bellarmine University in 1994.
Patti began her nursing career at Clark Memorial Hospital working initially on a medical-surgical unit, and then in the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU). She later transitioned into the hospital's Education Department, where for ten years she nurtured future generations of healthcare professionals.
In 1999 she joined Kindred Healthcare, and from 1999 - 2001, she served as the Director of Patient Care Services at their Sellersburg Health and Rehab Facility, where her leadership and clinical expertise shaped the quality of care for residents. In 2001she joined Kindred Healthcare's Hospital Division as an Education Consultant and later became the Director of Education. Demonstrating leadership, innovation and successful outcomes, Patti assumed additional responsibilities and was ultimately appointed Division Vice President, Clinical Programs, Training, and Implementation-a role in which she left an enduring impact on healthcare education and clinical policy. She retired from her position in July 2021, leaving behind a legacy of excellence, integrity, and compassion.
Beyond her remarkable career, Patti was known for her quiet strength, generous spirit, and fierce love for her family. Her nieces and nephews were the light of her life, and she embraced them with the same unwavering care she gave to her patients and colleagues. Whether at family gatherings, cheering on loved ones, or offering wise counsel, Patti's presence was a gift to all who knew her.
Patti is preceded in death by her father, John F. Bischof, Sr. She is survived by her mother, Mary Leonard Bischof; her brother, John Bischof (Linda); her sister, Terri Graham (Doug); and her beloved nieces and nephews, Jonathan Bischof (Carrie), Sarah Ralph (Chris), Angela Graham Massey (Brian), and Matthew Graham. Patti also leaves behind seven adored great-nieces and nephews, along with numerous extended family members and dear friends whose lives were forever touched by her kindness.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate teams at Norton Cancer Institute, Norton Brownsboro Hospital, and Hosparus Health for their dedicated care during Patti's illness.
Visitation will be held on Monday, June 16, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Scott Funeral Home, 2515 Veterans Parkway, Jeffersonville, Indiana.
