Patty Jay Edwards, 83, passed away at her home with her lifelong love, Rex Junior Edwards by her side on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, in
Santa Clara, Utah due to heart failure and kidney disease. Patty was born in Burley Idaho on August 13, 1942, to Rex Paul and Fonda Ruth Allen. She was the youngest of three girls, Judy Allen Badger, Paula Allen Struchen who was her fraternal twin.
Patty grew up in Burley and graduated from Burley High School. She met Rex at the Texaco gas station, Rex was there visiting his friend Pete Butler who worked there. Rex washed Patty's windshield while Pete gassed up the car. Patty and Rex were married on August 12, 1960, in
Burley, Idaho.
Patty and Rex had three children, Suezan, Ronnie, and Sandra. Rex worked for The Bureau of Land Management as a surveyor which took them to several states in the early years.
Patty was a wonderful loving mother and homemaker. She worked out of the home as a cook and baker at several places- Fort Lewis College in Durango, Colorado, IRS in Ogden, Utah, Sandy's Fine Foods and Catering in Ogden, Utah and Dixie College
St. George, Utah. She was well known for her Cinnamon Rolls! She loved people, loved to cook and entertain. Patty and Rex were travelers, always in the car, loved to visit with friends and family. Always up for an adventure.
Patty was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in several church callings throughout her life. She had the privilege of serving 5 missions with Rex, 1 mission in Puerto Rico, then Texas, ending with a service missions in Utah at Bluff Fort.
Patty is survived by her husband, Rex Junior Edwards of
Santa Clara, Utah; children: Suezan and Larry Chapman of Mancos, Colorado, Ronnie Edwards of Durango, Colorado, and Sandra and Brad Urie of Layton, Utah; grandchildren: Corey Urie, Brooke Urie, Zachary Urie and Madison Urie all from Layton, Utah.
Patty is preceded in death by her parents, Rex Paul and Fonda Ruth Allen; sisters: Judy (Allen) Badger and Paula (Allen) Struchen all from Burley Idaho.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 16, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Chapel, 3815 Rachel Drive,
Santa Clara, UT 84765. Viewings will be held on Thursday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Metcalf Bonzo Mortuary, 288 West St. George Blvd and on Friday, prior to services, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the church.
