Paul Douglas Andrew, 67, of Des Moines, Iowa, passed away surrounded by his loved ones. He was born on October 4, 1957, in Davenport, Iowa, to Galen and Vera Andrew. At age 12, the family moved to Des Moines, where Paul attended St. Augustin’s Catholic School and graduated from Dowling High School.
Paul and his brother Brian built a successful pallet company, which was one of his greatest accomplishments and a source of pride throughout his life. He was known for his hard work, dedication, and ability to turn challenges into opportunities.
On October 8, 1983, Paul married the love of his life, Jane Andrew. Together, they made their home on the south side of Des Moines, where they raised their children, Kathryn (Katie) Andrew and Father Ryan Andrew. For the past 30 years, Paul also shared his love and guidance with his daughter Anne Owens, who has been an important part of the family along with her children, Izzy and Isaiah.
Paul was a man known for his kindness, his gift of making everyone feel welcome, and his knack for cracking a joke or two at just the right time. Above all, he was devoted to his family. He was an incredible “Papa” to his grandchildren—Hailey, John Paul, and Abe, — loving them fiercely and filling their lives with joy and laughter.
Paul is preceded in death by his parents, Galen and Vera Andrew; his brother, Robert (Bob) Andrew; and his sisters, Sandra Stock, Beverly Andrew Davis and Cindy Andrew.
He will be deeply missed by his wife Jane, his children Katie, Fr. Ryan, and Anne, his grandchildren, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. Paul’s legacy of love, humor, and warmth will live on in the hearts of his family forever.
Visitation will be on Monday, August 4, 2025 from 4:00-6:00 PM at Christ The King Catholic Church in Des Moines with a Rosary at 6:00 PM. The Funeral Mass will be at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, August 5, 2025 at the church. Burial will follow at Glendale Cemetery.
