Paul Earl Blackburn, 97, of Lorain, went home to be with the Lord on Monday January 26, 2026. He was born December 31, 1928 in Columbus, Ohio. Mr. Blackburn resided at Lorain Estates Senior Living where he enjoyed Jigsaw puzzles and watching sports, especially the Ohio State Buckeyes. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Elyria and enjoyed when their members visited him.

Paul enlisted in the US Navy after graduating from Central High School, Columbus, in the final year of WW2. He served in the Pacific aboard the USS LST 1078 and trained aboard the USS Missouri BB-63 in the Atlantic. He was awarded the WW2 Victory Medal.

In 1950 he married the love of his life. Maggie C. Blackburn (nee Noland). They were married for 71 years until her passing in 2021.

He graduated from The Ohio State University in 1952 and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in 1969. He was an Accountant and Christian School Administrator.

He is survived by: his daughter, Rebecca Christie (the late Mike) of Fort Myers, FL; three sons, Timothy Blackburn (Carol) of Vermilion, Mark Blackburn (Kathleen) of Lorain, and Philip Blackburn (Niphaporn) of Cranberry Township, PA; eight grandsons; seven great granddaughters; his dear sister Sharon Green (Danny) of Circleville, OH and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife, Paul was preceded in death by: his son, Stephen Blackburn; his grandson John Christie; his parents, Homer and Grace; step mother Virginia; sisters Brenda, Delores and Kathleen and his brother Carl.

The family will receive friends on Sunday February 8, 2026 from 2 to 4pm at the Liston Funeral Home, 36403 Center Ridge Road, North Ridgeville. The Funeral Service will be Monday February 9, 2026 at 11:00am at the funeral home. Pastor David Burman from First Baptist Church of Elyria, will officiate. Burial will be at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Seville
