Paul L. Castillo Jr. went to be with the Lord on September 2, 2022, at the age of 75.
Paul was born on October 31, 1946, in San Antonio Texas, to the late Eva G. and Paul Castillo Sr. He grew up surrounded by the love of his parents and his two brothers and a sister. Paul and his spouse Sandra O. Castillo shared a thirty-eight-year companionship and marriage together. He led an incredible life full of many accomplishments, but his proudest achievements were his gifts from the Lord, his children.
Paul graduated from Edgewood High School and later attended St. Philips College. He would begin his career with the United States Army serving three years before transitioning over to the United States Air National Guard where he dedicated seventeen years of faithful service. His pride and commitment to his country led him to serve in another capacity as the production supervisor for aviation fueling at Kelly Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas. Paul officially retired from civil service after thirty-four incredible years.
Paul truly enjoyed the simple pleasures in life; great conversation, making those around him smile, and feeling hopeful for the future of those he knew. He inspired those around him to be better individuals. As manager, Paul was instrumental to the success of the Stragglers Softball team for eighteen inspiring years. A genuine outdoors man, he enjoyed hunting and fishing in his free time. The Castillo Ranch was his retreat from the busy city where he found immense satisfaction taking care of his land. His capacity for generosity knew no bounds. A loyal friend to all, he was someone who would help anyone in need with support, encouragement, and guidance. Paul loved when family and friends would get together. While those times exists now only in our memories, they will be cherished and remembered forever. Until we meet again, rest in peace.
He is preceded in death by his parents Eva G. Castillo and Paul Castillo Sr., and brothers, Juan Castillo, and Jesse Castillo.
He is survived by his wife, Sandra O. Castillo; children, Richard Orta Sr. (Frances), Andrew Castillo (Elvia) and Jennifer Ann Castillo; children shared with Antonia Castillo; Carlos Castillo, Becky C. Notgrass (Benny), Larry Castillo, Paul Castillo III, and Simon Castillo; grandchildren, Richard Orta Jr., Ryan Orta, Nicole Notgrass, Danielle Notgrass, and Elaina Castillo; sister, Gloria Bueno (Louis); sister-in-law, Mary Solis; in addition to numerous extended family and friends.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 18, 2022, at Castillo Funeral Home from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm with the Holy Rosary to be recited at 6:00 pm. The Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, September 19, 2022, at St Jude Catholic Church at 1:00 pm followed by a memorial service with full military honors at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery at 2:45 pm.

Sandra, Please accept my sincere condolences on Paul's passing.
After so many years as my brother-in-law, I saw Paul more like a big brother. Eventhough life's circumstances took us in different directions, we can still recall many, many good memories.
Paul was blessed when God took him from his bed; he is REALLY resting now, in paradise! May he REST IN PEACE.
I Can Only Imagine
the JOY they share today and forever: Father, Mother & their 3 sons, together - HOME with Our, Lord!

May God grant you peace, as well and the strength to carry on. It is a hard road to walk alone. May God Bless you and your household.
