With deep sadness, our family regrets to announce that Paul Lehr Cochran, Jr., 38, of Elyria, lost his battle with Bipolar Disorder sometime during Memorial Day weekend, 2023. Paul was born March 1, 1985 in Westlake, Ohio, but spent most of his life in Morrow County, moving to Elyria in 2006.

Paul’s favorite pastime was playing games with friends online.  Other interests were cars and car stereo systems.

Paul worked for Home Depot (Elyria). Our family would like to express our gratitude to everyone there for their support and patience throughout Paul’s battle with mental illness.

Paul’s survivors include sisters, Patti (Lynch/Mullins) Diehl (Jack) of Lockbourne; Linda Lynch and Lori Lynch of Elyria; sister-in-law, Debi Cochran; nieces and nephews, Hillary Mullins, Justin Workman, Paige Dukes (Anthony), Antonio and Malik Lynch, Brandon Crabbs (Erik) and Corey (Brandi) Cochran; great-nieces, Layla, Leah and Lily’Anna Beach and Ellyana Cochran; great-nephews, Elijah and Gabriel Lynch and Nigel Dukes. He is also survived by two special family friends, Curt Mullins and Jenny Beach; his favorite pup, Cookie, and countless online gaming friends that he’s known and played with for years.

Paul was preceded in death by his loving parents, Paul Lehr Cochran, Sr. and Patricia Sue Cochran; two (half) brothers, Larry Alan Cochran and John David Lynch, Jr.

Our family would like to thank Elyria PD, EMS and the Lorain County Coroner’s Office. Their caring compassion made an unbearable situation somewhat bearable for our family. We would also like to thank everyone from The Nord Center, all of Paul’s counselors and doctors and all of the different people and places that have cared for him over the years, and then returned him to his family well again. We are sincerely grateful to you for the extra time your care gave us with him.

In accordance with Paul’s wishes, no formal service will be held.  In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory can be made to The Nord Center at https://www.nordcenter.org or the Foundation for Suicide Prevention at https://afsp.org.

If you or someone you love is having a suicidal crisis please call 988 to reach the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline.
