Paul Cronquist Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Carnes Funeral Home - Texas City on Mar. 15, 2024.
Paul Vernon Cronquist was born June 6, 1950, in Julesburg, Colorado, to Valerie and Mary Belle Cronquist. He was preceded in death by his brother, who died as an infant, his father Valerie and his mother Mary Belle. He is survived by his sisters: Lorraine, Sharon, Charla, his wife Karen and their children Wendy, Alisa, Elizabeth, Nathan, and Evan, and 19 grandchildren. He passed away March 8, 2024, in Garland, TX.
Paul Cronquist accepted Christ as his Savior when he was a teenager at Bible Camp. As a young man and father, he dedicated his life to serve the Lord. He went to Bible College in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. After Bible College, he and his family moved to Batesville, Arkansas, where he worked in Christian Education at Landmark Baptist Temple. He was able to influence many young people for Christ and taught them to be diligent students. He was a well-loved and respected principal. After a few years, the Lord moved him back to Oklahoma City, where he was once again able to influence young people for Christ through Christian Education.
After Oklahoma City, he moved his family to Garland, TX, where he continued to serve the Lord.
He was a loving and hardworking father. He made sure all of his children grew up to know the Lord, and taught his children and grandchildren good, godly principles and was a steady influence in their lives. He taught through example. His goal in life wasn't to be rich or famous, but to make sure he pleased the Lord.
His life can be summed up by these Bible verses:
Ecclesiastes 12:13-14
Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God and keep his commandments for this is the whole duty of man.
For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.
Joshua 24:15
And if it seem evil unto you to serve the Lord, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.

He was my principal and math teacher in high school. He was a godly man and I had much respect for him. Paul was one of the most consistent men I have ever known.
