Paul Lee Currey, 75, of Bridgeport, went to be with the Lord on June 12, 2025. He was born on August 12, 1949 in Clarksburg, WV.
Those whom Paul will be joining in heaven are his father, Paul Lee Currey Sr.; mother, Alice 'Lorraine' (Starkey) Ahlhardt & husband, John Ahlhardt; his sisters, Terry Currey and Carolyn Collette, his daughters, LeAnna Beekman & Kelli Currey, his sister-in-law, Connie Hurst; and brothers in law, Bob Mason and Bill Craft, who was also his best friend. Many other extended family and friends will be celebrating his arrival as well.
Surviving is his wife of nearly 31 years, Rhonda Currey; his sons, Christopher Currey and Hunter Currey (Abby); son-in-law, Bill Kelley; sister, Pam Sebert (Elwood); grandchildren, Valerie White, Matthew Cox, Vance Cox, Victoria Puccio, Terry Currey, Alexus Stanley, Dakota Currey, Zach Kelley, Breanna Kelley, Logan Kelley and Jaxon Currey; as well as several great grandchildren.
Paul loved the Lord with all his heart, and was an ordained Minister. He was a member of Abundant Life Church. His lifelong desire was for all of his family to be saved.
Paul served in the Marine Corps during Vietnam. He was a hardworking and conscientious individual. Throughout the years, he held positions at Carmet, Mon Power, Grant Town Power Plant & retired from SFK Pulp. During his retirement years, he volunteered at Heritage Christian School.
Paul was a jack of all trades, and a very talented handyman and builder. There wasn't anything that he couldn't do. He helped his father build houses and was able to build some of his own, as well. Over the years, he was always willing to share his skills and knowledge to assist others in any way he could.
Those who knew him will always remember him for his quick sense of humor.... always finding something to joke or tease about. In earlier years, Paul was an avid hunter and an enthusiastic Nascar fan. He also enjoyed camping and spending time with his family.
The family would like to give a special thanks to WVU Home Health Nurse, Shawna Hawkins, who became a friend, as well as a nurse, throughout this journey.
Friends will be received at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Avenue, Bridgeport, on Thursday from 6 – 8 p.m., where services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 20, 2025, with Pastor Gregory "Rocky" Dodd presiding. The interment date will be announced later.
