Stanford "Stan" D. Cutright, 76, of Bridgeport, WV passed away surrounded by his family on Sunday, August 17, 2025, at the West Virginia Veterans Nursing Facility, where he was known as "Stan the Man." Stan was born on January 11, 1949, in Clarksburg, WV, son of the late Orla "Cutty" Emmitt Cutright and Iris Irene Findley Cutright. Stan is survived by his stepmother, "Mom" Helen Cutright, his wife, Charlotte Cutright, and his son, Cullin Cutright, all of Bridgeport, WV, his mother-in-law, Carolyn Sivak of Barrackville, WV; as well as many other close family members.

Stan was preceded in death by his parents Orla and Iris, his sister, Loretta LaBrie, his brother, Edward Cutright, and his stepbrother, Tom Sears.

Stan was a graduate of Victory High School Class of 1966 where he was a member of the basketball team and drum major in the school marching band. Stan served in the US Army from 1969 – 1971 and was a Vietnam Veteran. During his time in the military, he was awarded numerous accolades highlighted by the Bronze Star Medal. After being honorably discharged, Stan worked as a machinist and welder before finding his true passion which led to 45 years of cutting hair as a barber/cosmetologist. He obtained his Barber's license from Wheeling Barber College before continuing his training at the Clarksburg Beauty Academy where he obtained his Cosmetology license as well.

Stan was the proud owner of Hair Shack and Rt. 50 Plaza on Main Street in Bridgeport for 42 years. The shop quickly became a community staple where laughter was the best hair product. Stan always presented a warm smile, a listening ear, and good conversation. He was dedicated to his craft and his customers who became lifelong friends. Serving his community brought him so much joy one haircut at a time. Stan lived by the phrase "Choose a job you love, and you'll never work a day in your life" and he truly felt as though he never worked a day cutting hair at "The Shop".

When he wasn't cutting hair, Stan would start the day with a hot cup of coffee and enjoy the great outdoors. He loved to trout fish, feed and watch the birds, and took great pride in his gardening. He also cherished his time spent with his family and closest friends during cookouts, holidays, and family gatherings. His love for sports ran deep, and he loved to end his day cheering on the Mountaineers with a cold Budweiser.

The family would like to thank the staff at Rosewood Center, West Virginia Veterans Nursing Facility, Amedisys Hospice Care, and Burnside Funeral Home for their loving care and support.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Stan's honor can be sent to the WV Veterans Nursing Facility, 1 Freedom Way, Clarksburg, WV 26301, and designated for the Resident Activity Fund.

Friends will be received at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Avenue, Bridgeport, from 2 – 7 p.m. on Saturday, August 23, 2025, where a prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. with Rev. Jeff Perine presiding. The interment at WV National Cemetery with Military Funeral Honors being accorded will be announced at a later date.

Prayers and much Love for Stan's Family. I had met Stan when I was just 17 yrs old and my then husband Randy Gore and our son Ernie Gore lived with Stan and his brother Ed out at Liberty Addition.Ernie was barely even walking. They worked on an oil field. Eventually Randy and I and son moved. But my family always got their hair cuts at Hair Shack or would stop by there to say hi to Stan
My 2 grandsons got their 1st haircuts there and whew now 1 is 20 yrs old the other 26. Stan was a kind caring man. You couldn't hardly find anyone that didn't know him. He'll certainly be missed. Stan see ya 1 fine day. Much love
