Captain Paul H. Fenton 82 of Plymouth Massachusetts passed on 11/2/2024 after a long illness.
Born on 10/12/1942 in Boston, Massachusetts, the oldest child of Herbert W. and Dorothea M. Fenton of Natick, Massachusetts.
He leaves his wife, Maureen Faraca of Plymouth,MA,his son Stephen Fenton of Quincy,MA, sisters, Dorothea Audet of Eastham, Massachusetts and Kathleen Muscarella of Lancaster, South Carolina, and 5 nieces and 1 nephew.
After graduating from Sacred Heart School in Newton Massachusetts Paul was appointed to the US Naval Academy and graduated in 1964. He attended submarine school for a year in Groton, Connecticut. He was in command of 300 men in the Vietnam War stationed in Sa Dec.
He later attended MIT to get a master's degree in Naval Engineering. After graduation he was stationed at naval bases in Virginia and South Carolina to oversee ship building and repairs Later he became the last commander of the Charleston South Carolina Naval Base before it closed.
He retired from the Navy and moved to Bath, Maine to work at Bath Iron Works where he would oversee the ship building and repairs.
In his retirement, he enjoyed cooking, painting, fishing and gardening.
A visitation will be held at the Cartmell-Davis Funeral Home, 619 State Rd Plymouth (Manomet), on Wednesday, November 13th, from 6:30 pm till 8:30 pm. A Mass of Christian burial will take place the following day at St Bonaventure Church, Plymouth (Manomet), at 10:30 am. Burial will take place at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne, at 12:30 pm.
