Paul A. Fredette, 86, of Pittsfield, passed away peacefully on July 18, 2025 at Berkshire Medical Center.
Born in North Adams on July 5, 1939, he was the son of Eugene and Doris LeSage Fredette and was educated in the North Adams public schools.
He married the former Doris Hall in October 1959, she predeceased him in May 2021. Paul worked as a shoemaker for Wall Streeter Shoe Co. and later a machinist at General Electric, where he retired. He also served on the board of the GE Pensioners Club.
Paul enjoyed attending the GE Pensioners dinners, fishing, caring for his cat Buddy, and spending time with his daughters, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He especially appreciated visits from close friends, which meant a great deal to him.
He is survived by his daughters, Barbara A. Green of Pittsfield, and Paula M. Malin and her husband Robert of Hickory, NC; three grandchildren, Kristin Steiner (Matt), Stacy Jasinski (Jeff), and Jessica Topping, and four great-grandchildren, Liam Steiner, Liana Steiner, Hailey Jasinski and Grace Topping.
In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by his grandson Brian Topping, son-in-law Michael Green, and several siblings.
Per his wishes, there will be no services. Memorial donations may be made in Paul's name to the Berkshire Humane Society, in care of Dery Funeral Home, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield, MA 01201.
