Paul V. Gastol,76, of Big Tree Road, Lakewood, N.Y., passed away on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Paul was born on March 18, 1949, in the Town of Harmony, the son of the late Victor and Bernice Waterman Gastol. Paul served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Era. He worked as a truck driver at Fairbank Farms, Quality Markets, Regal Trucking and retired in 2011 from Suit-Kote. Paul was a member of Watts Flatts United Methodist Church, Lakewood American Legion Post #1286, Skyline Archery Club, Boy Scouts Leader, Union Leader for Quality Markets. Paul was an avid hunter, fisherman and his passion was saltwater fishing. He was an archery safety instructor and raised pheasants for the 4H Club. He was creative with woodworking and his home is filled with his woodworking skills of projects he's built over the years. He helped his family members with their carpentry needs. Paul enjoyed traveling to Canada for several canoe trips. Paul was a member of Crackpot Camping Club, camping was a part of his life throughout the years. In his younger years he would take his family to Chincotoque, VA and they loved clamming, crabbing, and fishing together. In his later years, he spent winters camping in Largo, FL with his wife Marsha. A special thank you to his brother-in-law Steve Johnson for providing care for him to be able to stay at home and his hospice nurse Rose Clark. Paul is survived by his wife Marsha Roos Gastol, who he married on August 16, 1969; a daughter: Jennifer V. Gastol of Columbus, IN; two sons: Nathan P. (Robyn) Gastol of Wake Forest, N.C. and Kevin A. (Kailey) Gastol of Cherry Creek, N.Y.; two brothers: John (Linda) Gastol of Niland, CA and Pete (Mary) Gastol of Adkins, TX; two sisters: Helen (Ray) Adams of Ashville, N.Y. and Mary Kelsey of Jamestown, N.Y.; an uncle: Doug (Sue) Waterman of Stow, N.Y.; grandchildren: Jadyn Spagnualo, Katelyn Gastol, Elliott Gastol, Kynleigh Gastol and Kierstyn Gastol and many nieces and nephews. Memorial contributions may be made to ALS Organization, Chautauqua County Hospice and Palliative Care or Vietnam Veterans of America. Friends and family may call at Powers, Present & Sixbey Funeral Home, Inc., on Friday from 5 PM to 7 PM. A service will be held on Saturday at Ashville United Methodist Church at 2 PM. A visitation will be held one hour prior to service from 1 PM- 2PM. Rev. John Bowman, pastor of the church will officiate. Burial will be in Grant Cemetery, Niobe, N.Y.
