Paul Gause, 93, of Huntertown, passed away peacefully, on December 2, 2024, at True Care Home in Auburn. He was born in Garrett on December 21, 1930, to the late Floyd and Lucille (Sloffer) Gause. He spent his formative years in Huntertown and graduated from Huntertown High School and then Indiana University. Paul was married to Mary "Jeanne" Todd, on June 28, 1958, and the couple shared a beautiful life. She preceded him in death on June 19, 2020, after almost 62 years. Paul's life was marked by his dedication to his career in banking. He was a respected banker and retired from the Farmers & Merchants Bank in LaOtto. Prior to his time at Farmers & Merchants, he spent time at Lincoln Bank. His commitment, work ethic, and integrity will long be remembered by his colleagues and those who had the pleasure of working with him. Paul was a Master Mason and Shriner. He attended Brookside Church and when he was in Florida he attended 1st Baptist Church in Panama City. He had a love for animals, especially his dogs. His greatest joy came from supporting nonprofits. He and Jeanne had a heart for philanthropy. A funeral service will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, at Sheets & Childs Funeral Home, Huntertown Chapel, with calling one hour prior to the service. Friends are also welcome at the funeral home on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m., with a Masonic service at 7:00 p.m. Burial will take place in the Fairview Cemetery, Huntertown. Memorials may be directed to Brookside Church or Dekalb County Humane Shelter. Sheets & Childs Funeral Home has been entrusted with these arrangements.
