Plantsville Funeral HomePaul Hagist, 84, of Southington, CT, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Wednesday, October 22, 2025 at Amberwoods of Farmington.
Paul was born on March 7, 1941 in New Britain, CT. He attended New Britain schools and graduated from Hartford Technical High School. Paul joined the Peace Corps and then enrolled in the Army Reserves before starting his successful career in the electrical industry, where he held various management positions over the years. One of the highlights of his career was serving as a junior engineer on the initial Apollo 11 space mission that landed on the moon. He also worked on many product development projects and electric components that are still used today. Paul was an avid photographer, loved traveling and was a huge history buff with a special interest in Civil War time. He also enjoyed cooking and loved sharing this passion with his grandchildren.
Paul is survived by his life partner of over 20 years, Justine T. LeVasseur of Southington, children; Robert A. Hagist and wife Kim of Southington, Paul Hagist and wife Becky of Sandwich, MA, Justine Burke and Jeanne LeVasseur, both of Southington, grandchildren; Alan Hagist (Taylor) of Conway, SC, Zachary Hagist of Southington, Jackson Hagist of VT, Mackenzie Donahue (Josh), Jacob and Nathan Burke and two cherished great-grandchildren, Grayson and Brayden. He was predeceased by his mother, Hazel Hagist and his sister, Dee Hagist.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Paul’s memory may be made to the National Kidney Foundation (https://www.kidney.org/).
Memorial calling hours will be held on Wednesday, November 5, 2025 from 4 – 6:00 p.m. at the Plantsville Funeral Home, 975 S. Main St., Plantsville. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. For online condolences and directions, please visit www.plantsvillefuneralhome.com.
