Paul Francis Halphen, 74, of Zachary, Louisiana, passed away on January 21, 2025. He was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather. Paul was born on November 23, 1950. He was a graduate of Brusly High School and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture Mechanization from Louisiana State University. At LSU, Paul was an active participant in the Block and Bridle Club and was a member of the Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity. Paul spent his career in the Electrical and Instrumentation field, working in paper mills and plants where he was known by many as "Bull Rider." Apart from an extensive knowledge of any electrical or mechanical workings, he was a cattleman, and spent his free time raising and working cattle. He enjoyed taking his grandkids camping each summer, and was an avid fan of LSU sports. Paul was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Fabio G. Halphen, Jr. and Marguerite Planchard Halphen, and his siblings Sylvia Rivers, Fabio Halphen III, Marguerite Hughey, Leonard Halphen, and Christopher Halphen. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Kay Law Halphen, his children Brian Halphen, Jason Halphen and wife Betsy, Karrie Halphen Coker and husband Bradley; and grandchildren Anna and Maggie Halphen, Caroline and Lauren Halphen, and Grayson and Camden Coker; and his siblings, Alfred and Janet Halphen, Eugene and Laura Halphen, Melanie and James Reeves, Janet Dornier, Suzanne and David Aubin, John and Liz Halphen, Mary and Lloyd Simms, Albert and Denise Halphen, Kathleen and John Byrd, sister-in-law Janice Halphen; and many other family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Zachary, Louisiana on Tuesday, January 28, 2025. Visitation will be from 9:00 to 11:00am, followed by a funeral mass at 11am. Pallbearers include Brian Halphen, Jason Halphen, John Halphen, Albert Halphen, Alfred "Butch" Halphen and Eugene Halphen. Honorary pallbearers include Bradley Coker, Grayson Coker, and Camden Coker.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Debt Reduction Fund at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 4826 Main St., Zachary, LA.
