Paul J. Harvey

After a long and slowly debilitating illness, my brother, Paul J. Harvey, born on
April 11, 1943, in Brooklyn, New York, and living in Hackensack, New Jersey, for 50
years, passed on February 6, 2025 in Naples, Florida. He is survived by his sister,
Susan Leaman, his niece, Alexis Downham, great nieces Kinley and Harper, and
beloved cousins.
Paul was an enrolled actuary and became a well-respected expert in treasury
regulations and rulings of the Internal Revenue Service, consulting and advising
corporations and the IRS in the creation and administration of pension plans. He
balanced his high stress occupation with the high life of casinos in Las Vegas, but
his real passion was owning trotter race horses. Many of his best times were
spent at the New Jersey and Pennsylvania race tracks watching his horses run
races and occasionally posing for pictures in the winners' circles. In spare time he
enjoyed dancing, basketball, and cooking chicken dinners for his niece.
My brother was my lifelong mentor, supporter, confidante, protector, and
companion. His quiet generosity often extended to friends and family. He was
devoted to his niece and to insuring the wellbeing of her and her children, Kinley
and Harper. He frequently spoke of his gratitude to our aunts and uncles for
providing us with warm childhood memories. His illness took the real Paul from us
years ago, too soon, and we have missed him for awhile already.
A memorial dinner will be held at the Meadowlands Racetrack in New Jersey.
