Paul John Hoesing, 77 of Ponca, Nebraska passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, March 1, 2025. A Memorial Service will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 7, 2025 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ponca, Nebraska with Deacon Dennis Knudsen officiating. The Nelson-Berger Northside Chapel in Sioux City, Iowa has assisted family with arrangements.
Paul was born on May 10, 1947 in Ponca, Nebraska to Harold F. and Joyce A. (Ayling) Hoesing. He grew up on a farm outside of Newcastle, Nebraska and graduated from Newcastle High School in 1964. He then attended Wayne State College and graduated with a degree in Education in 1968.
Paul married Mary Kneifl on July 6, 1968 in Hartington, Nebraska. He taught High School Biology in South Sioux City for several years. He had several other careers before opening his own woodworking business, which he operated until retirement. He enjoyed crafting things with his hands, singing karaoke, walking at the school, and spending time with family and friends.
Paul is survived by his wife of 56 years, Mary; daughters Stacia of Ponca, Hannah (Earen) of Omaha, and Alicia of Omaha, son Matt (Lina) of Winter Springs, FL; brothers Mike (Lori) Hoesing of Sioux City, Iowa, and Rod (Kay) Hoesing of Newcastle, Nebraska; grandchildren Justin Hoesing, Claire (Luke) Walsh, Lucas Hoesing, Valeria Hoesing, Winston Engelmann, and great-granddaughter Lily Walsh.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents and brother Gary Hoesing.
