Of Braddock Hills, age 81, died on Sunday, December 29, 2024 in the presence of his family.
Paul was the husband of Carol (Simon) Hoover for what would have been 60 years on May 8, 2025.
He was the loving and cherished father of Paul (Susan) Hoover of Plum and Jill (Sean) Flaherty of Seven Fields.
Paul was the treasured grandfather of Zachary (fiancé, Alexis Rossey) Hoover, Lauren Hoover, Rachael (Patrick) Heil and Ashley Flaherty.
He is also survived by his sister Marilyn Amadeo of Plum.
Paul was a 1962 graduate of Swissvale High School. After 2 years of technical school, he became employed at Bell Telephone, now AT&T. During his career at AT&T he was a member and officer of the Communication Workers of America in Pittsburgh. After retirement from AT&T, he became employed with Westinghouse for a few years, before establishing Hoov's Tavern on Wilkins Avenue in Braddock Hills. He operated Hoov's for about 10 years.
During his retirement, Paul enjoyed golfing, fishing, trying his luck at casino slot machines and socializing at local taverns and restaurants.
Friends are welcome on Thursday from 3-7pm at Patrick T. Lanigan Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 700 Linden Ave. at Cable, East Pittsburgh, PA 15112, (412) 824-8800 where a Blessing Service will be held on Friday at 11 a.m.
Paul will then be laid to rest in Braddock Catholic Cemetery.
