Paul William Laustsen, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on October 15, 2025, in Wilmington, North Carolina. He was 91 years old, having been born on November 3, 1933, in Piscataway Township, New Jersey.

Paul was the cherished son of the late Laurids Laustsen and Sena Marie Madsen Laustsen. He was preceded in death by his son, Perry Laustsen, his infant grandson, Daniel Laustsen, and his siblings, Henry, Norman, Ginny, Melsen, Louis, and Russell Laustsen.

Growing up on a farm instilled in Paul a strong work ethic and a love for nature that stayed with him throughout his life. After graduating high school, he honorably served his country in the United States Navy as a Machinist's Mate 2nd Class for nearly four years.

In 1956, he married the love of his life, Laura Lee Laustsen, with whom he shared 69 wonderful years of marriage. Together, they raised their family in his hometown of Piscataway Township, New Jersey. Paul worked as a skilled welder for PSE&G until his retirement, after which he devoted his time to his passions.

A man of many interests, Paul delighted in gardening and golfing, and he was known for keeping busy by being handy and fixing things around the house. His retirement years were filled with joy as he traveled extensively with his wife, visiting family and friends and making cherished memories.

Paul was a devoted member of the Lutheran Church of Reconciliation in Wilmington, North Carolina, where he found not only spiritual fulfillment but also a community of dear friends.

He is survived by his loving wife, Laura Lee Laustsen; his sister, Dorothy Hynes of Reno, Nevada; his son, David Laustsen and his wife Diane of Easton, Pennsylvania; his daughter-in-law, Susan Laustsen of East Windsor, New Jersey; his son, Alan Laustsen and his wife Jennifer of Hartwell, Georgia. He also leaves behind his treasured grandchildren, Brian Laustsen (Kaitlin), Christa O'Brien (Kevin), Michael Laustsen, David Laustsen Jr., Rachel Hill (Nicholas), Tyler Laustsen, and Shane Laustsen, as well as great-grandchildren, Josephine, Collins, Welles, Conor, Caroline, Clare, Carter and Paisley.

A memorial service will be held in celebration of Paul's life at the Lutheran Church of Reconciliation, 7500 Market Street, Wilmington, NC 28411, on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, time TBD. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made in Paul's name to his beloved church, please see link below.

Paul William Laustsen will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to his family, his steadfast faith, and his contributions to all who knew him. His memory will be cherished by those whose lives he touched.
