Paul Otto Lutze was born October 17, 1944, in Rock Springs, Wyoming, the only child of the Rev. John E. Lutze and Ruth (Hiller) Lutze.
He grew up in Mitchell, South Dakota and later moved with his family to Downers Grove, IL. He knew as a child that he wanted to follow his father into the ministry, so he attended Concordia College in Milwaukee, WI, Concordia Senior College in Fort Wayne, IN, and Concordia Seminary in St. Louis, MO, graduating in 1970. He was ordained in 1970 and served parishes in Foxboro, MA, Seaford, NY and Vernon, CT before joining the staff of Bishop Lavern Franzen in Tampa, FL where he was an Assistant to the Bishop until 1999. From 1999 through 2004 he served at Trinity Lutheran Seminary in Columbus, OH, then returned to Florida to again work as an Assistant to the Bishop until his retirement in 2013. He was blessed with a beautiful singing voice and shared his talents as a soloist, choir director and participant in numerous ways throughout his life.
In 1968 he married Donna J. Werner, originally of Bristol, CT. He died February 18, 2023 and is survived by his wife, two children, Andrea Ruth and Matthew Paul, and five grandchildren, as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins.
There will be a celebration of Paul's life and ministry at Our Savior Lutheran Church, 1850 6th Avenue, Vero Beach, Florida on March 9, at 1:00 p.m.
Memorial gifts may be sent to Our Savior Lutheran Church or a charity of the donor's choice.

I have many warm memories of working with Paul while he was serving at Trinity Seminary, and my life is better for having known him. "Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him!"
