Obituary
PAUL B. LYNCH, 81, of Princeton passed away Monday, July 31, 2023 at the Premier Healthcare in New Harmony. He was born in Princeton IN, February 13, 1942, to Edgar and Helen (DeLong) Lynch.
Paul was a retired Advertising Consultant with the Princeton Daily Clarion for 20 years. He had lived in Gibson County all of his life. Paul was a member of the First General Baptist Church in Princeton, where he played in the church praise band, an avid musician playing the electric bass. He had been a Pastor at the Friendship Church in Baldwin Heights. Paul's interest in music began at an early age. In the late 1950's, he was a member of the band Darwin Nelson and the Blaize Makers, they wrote and recorded a song titled "Lazy Lu". He was a junior in high school where he and Darwin were very good friends. They had no idea that the song would end up in the Rockabilly Hall of Fame. They didn't find out about this until the year 2000. Paul recorded professionally in the studio on various albums. He opened and played for over 46 big name artists, including Crystal Gayle, Tanya Tucker and Ernest Tubb. When he was younger, he and his good friend Darwin, who passed away in 2017, often hosted a show called "Country Town U.S.A". and they would rent gyms for musician and singers to perform. Paul performed with famous organ player, Red Wick for several years, and they became good friends as well. Then later, he performed with a band, "Wind and Wire", which consisted of Bob Smith, Evan Twitty, and Larry Marchino and they played at many places and events throughout the area. But most of all Paul's faith in God, love for his family, enjoyment of music and playing the electric bass guided and sustained him throughout his life.
