Paul Franklin Mashburn, age 86, passed away at his home in Lookout Valley on December 15, 2024. He was born on August 29, 1938, in Scottsboro, Alabama, and dedicated his life to serving others through a distinguished career as a bus driver.
As the owner and operator of Mashburn Bus Service, Paul traveled across the country, providing exceptional charter services. His unwavering commitment and professionalism were evident during his 54 years of contracting with the Hamilton County School System, from which he retired in June 2024. In recognition of his contributions to the profession, Paul was honored with induction into the Bus Driver Hall of Fame in 2023.
Known for his kind and welcoming nature, Paul had an infectious sense of humor that brightened the lives of those around him. He loved his family deeply and cherished every moment spent with them.
Paul's legacy will live on through his beloved wife, Betty Mashburn, and his children, Judy (Mike) Gordon, Diane (Jim) Sparks, Dewayne (Cindy) Mashburn, and David (Donna) Mashburn. He is also survived by his sister, Helen Morton, and his grandchildren: Jeremy Mashburn, Joshua Mashburn, Leslie Horton, Brian Mashburn, Shelly Sparks, Christopher Collins, Shawn Gordon, Nicolas Tate, and Timothy Gordon, along with seventeen great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and a host friends.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents, William and Dollie Mashburn, and by his siblings, William Mashburn, Grady Mashburn, Susie Moore, Margie Robins, James Mashburn, Mary Spears, Ruth Smith, Lloyd Mashburn, and Joe Mashburn.
A funeral service to honor Paul's life will be held on Friday, December 20th at 1:00 PM in the Trenton Chapel of Moore Funeral Home. Following the service, he will be laid to rest at Lakewood Memory Gardens West.
Family and friends are invited to express their condolences and pay their respects at the funeral home on Thursday, December 19th, from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Friday from 11:00 AM until the start of the service.
Paul Mashburn will be remembered for his dedication to his profession, his love for his family, and the joy he brought to those around him.
