Paul Michael McMahon, 71, of Worcester, MA, passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home on Monday, September 22, 2025. He was born on July 23,1954, in Worcester, a son of the late Paul and F. Ethel (Cavanaugh) McMahon.

Paul graduated from the College of the Holy Cross in 1976 and earned his Certified Public Accountant status while working at Arthur Young accounting firm. He graduated from the Tuck School of Business in Dartmouth, NH, in 1981 with a Master in Business Administration degree. He became a Chartered Financial Analyst and built a successful career with Mass Financial Services in Boston, MA. Paul started his own firm, Provida Financial Advisors, LLC, becoming an investment advisor to many clients. In addition to his investment work, Paul served on the board of the Nazareth Home for many years and was active on the College of the Holy Cross Class of 1976 50th year reunion committee.

Paul's lifelong religious faith began at home and was nurtured at St. Stephen's School, continuing through his education at Assumption Preparatory, St. John's High School, and ultimately the College of the Holy Cross. During his junior year in college, Paul spent a semester abroad in Europe, an experience he would fondly reflect upon throughout his life. He cherished meeting his paternal relatives in Ireland and embraced the adventure of riding the Euro Rail with classmates to explore neighboring countries.

Paul embraced an active lifestyle throughout his life. He was an avid skier and swimmer. He found joy in gardening, growing vegetables and flowers, especially Mexican dahlias, his favorite flower. He held dear his many childhood and adult trips to Ocean Park, ME, where days at the beach became a lifelong joy. He was blessed with an extraordinary extended family, counting 53 first cousins whom he communicated with and looked forward to seeing at family events through the years. A gifted conversationalist, Paul could strike up and sustain meaningful discussions on many topics. Anyone who spent time with Paul knew he enjoyed a good ice cream cone, no matter what time of year.

Paul's greatest pleasure was spending time with his family. He proudly raised his four sons; Michael, Gregory, Stephen, and Joseph. He cherished visiting and meeting them for a walk or dinner. Paul's life was further enhanced by the birth of his daughter, Caroline. Paul had recently returned from visiting his sophomore year daughter at Dartmouth College, NH. Paul also enjoyed spending time with his stepdaughter, Emily Bailakis. Another life milestone for Paul was welcoming his daughter-in-law Gwyneth, Gregory's wife, and their sons, Graham and Beau, into the family.

Paul is survived by his five children, his stepdaughter, his daughter-in-law and his beloved grandsons. He will be forever remembered by his three sisters, Marie Deedy, Ann Jenkins, and Kathleen Stansky. He also leaves behind his brothers-in-law John Jenkins and Robert Stansky. Paul was predeceased by his brother-in-law, Kevin Deedy. Paul's memory will live on in the hearts of the entire McMahon and Cavanaugh families and his many neighbors and friends. The family encourages you to celebrate Paul's life by sharing your favorite memories of him with those who knew and loved him. The stories, laughter, and love he inspired is a wonderful way to honor his legacy.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, October 3, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Athy Memorial Home, 111 Lancaster Street, Worcester. A Mass will be held on Saturday, October 4, at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of the Rosary Church, 25 Fales Street, Worcester. Burial will follow at St. John's Cemetery, 260 Cambridge Street, Worcester.
