Paul Alan Miya, 68, passed away Saturday, March 22, 2025 at McKay Dee Hospital, from recent illnesses. He was born on August 6,1956 in Ogden, a son of Masami Miya and Aki Nishi.

Paul (known by family as Alan) moved to Seattle WA when he was two, where he attended preschool and graduated kindergarten in Seattle. His parents divorced and they moved to Othello, WA. He attended schools there until his sophomore year. He then attended Roy High school and graduated in 1974.

Paul attended Weber State pursued a career auto mechanics. He held several jobs at parts stores and auto dealerships. He worked at Frank Edwards and in his spare time he worked for his Uncle Slim at Bamboo Noodle and helped his dad with his small lawn mower repair shop.

He was married in 1980 to Linda Okuda. They later divorced. He cherished their friendship, and they remained good friends.

He was a reserve police officer at Ogden then was hired by Weber County Sheriff’s Office in January of 1998 until July 2023 upon retirement. He worked evenings at Dillard’s as a security officer from May 2008 through June 2023. He also worked security for Weber State. He met a lot of people and celebrities he enjoyed visiting with.

He loved fishing, hunting, he loved eating out with his special friends and having meals with his retired deputies. Every chance he got he would go to concerts with close friends. They loved music from the 70’s and 80’s. He especially enjoyed riding his Harley.

Alan is survived by his father, Masami Miya Roy, Utah; sisters, Sharon (Robert) Schutte Othello, WA; Sheila (David) Grace, Bothell, WA; Tena Miya, Roy Utah; Nancy (Mark) Munekata, Torrance, CA; Denise Nishi, Vancouver, WA; nephew and nieces, Rod (Katy) Schutte, Kimberly (Dan) Freeman, Kai Munekata, Erica Munekata; great nieces and nephew: Blake Schutte, Avery Schutte, Quinn Schutte, Mattthew Freeman and Summer Freeman; his dog Maggie (now in Othello, WA).

He is predeceased by his mother and stepfather, Aki and Yoe Nishi, stepmother, Kyoko Miya and Buck, his faithful companion. He will be happily united with him.

Special “Thanks” to Karen and Bonnie, David, Cam and Brian. Always willing to go the extra effort to help him.

Instead of Koden or flowers, donations could be made to a favorite charity. If not, take your family to dinner or desserts or something together and say this is for you “Alan” or “Paul”

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday April 3, 2025, at Lindquist's Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South. The family will meet with friends Thursday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at the mortuary.
