Paul Raymond Neuser, age 89, passed away on September 2, 2025.
Paul was born in
Manitowoc, Wisconsin on October 28, 1935 to Adolph and Agnes (Benzschawel) Neuser. He attended Sacred Heart and St. Boniface grade schools, Washington Junior High, and Lincoln High school, graduating with the class of 1954.
Paul enlisted in the US Army in November 1954. While in the army, Paul received additional training in personnel management at Ft. Benjamin Harrison in Indiana in 1955 and was then stationed in Germany from 1956-1957. In 1957, Paul received the V-Corps Award for Outstanding Service, 97th Field Artillery Battalion, Wertheim, Germany. He was honorably discharged in October 1957.
Upon his discharge from the army, Paul returned to Manitowoc where he met Margret Linsmeier; they married on August 30, 1958 and together raised five children: Julie (James Hess), Two Rivers; Thomas (Susan) Neuser, Madison; Sharon (Kevin Cornils), Two Rivers; Gerard (Corissa) Neuser, Two Rivers; Nancy (Kevin) Moss, Manitowoc. Paul was also the proud grandfather of twelve grandchildren: Bradley Jorsch, Burlington, NC; Andrew (Melissa) Jorsch, Oregon; Peter Jorsch, Verona; Daniel Neuser, Madison; Steven Neuser, Madison; Vincent (Tiffany Hall) Cornils, Milwaukee; Mitchell (Erin) Cornils, Appleton; Kyle (Alyssa) Neuser, Madison; Joshua Neuser, Manitowoc; Jacob (Jessica) Moss, Two Rivers; Sarah Moss, Manitowoc; Abigail Moss, Manitowoc. Additionally, Paul had nine great-grandchildren: Noah Jorsch; Owen, Ben, and Julia Jorsch; Leif, Ruby, and Hugo Neuser; Eloise and Rosalee Cornils.
Beyond his service to the nation as a member of the US Army, Paul's professional life was also one of service to others. In 1958, Paul began work in the maintenance department of St. Mary's Nursing home. As part of his work, Paul studied heating and air conditioning design through the University of Wisconsin-Madison Extension; this helped him navigate the many additions, revisions, and changes to the complex during his time there. Paul retired as Vice President of Support Services at the Felician Village and St. Mary's Home after more than forty years of service to the Sisters of St. Felix of Cantalice, and to the many hundreds of residents of the Home.
Paul's focus on service to others extended beyond work. As a member of Sacred Heart Parish in Manitowoc, Paul served as both member and president of the Parish Council, the Parish School Board, and the Sacred Heart Men's club. As a proud member of the National Association of Power Engineers (NAPE), Paul served as the Manitowoc and Sheboygan Chapter 2 president, as well as the president of the Wisconsin NAPE. In addition, he was a member of Catholic Hospital Engineers, a member of the Heating and Refrigeration Engineers (now known as ASHRAE), and a member of Post 88 of the American Legion; Paul was a current member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Adolph and Agnes Neuser, and his mother and father-in-law, Frank and Mary Linsmeier; his siblings and siblings-in law: Rev. Father John Neuser; Marian and Jerome Keehan; Lawrence and Eileen Neuser; Kenneth Neuser; Randy Neuser; one baby sister; Judy Neuer; Joseph and Pat Linsmeier; Alois and Elaine Linsmeier; Francis and Marie Linsmeier; Clement Linsmeier; Christopher and Rita Linsmeier; Katherine and Edward Goehring; Norbert Linsmeier; his son-in-law Alan Jorsch; his nephew James Keehan.
In addition to his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, Paul is survived by his siblings, James Neuser, Manitowoc; Richard (Eileen) Neuser, Manitowoc; Roseanne (Thomas) Pagels, Charlotte NC; Suzanne (Thomas) Kuffel, Sturgeon Bay. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law: Sandy Neuser, Fort Atkinson; Carol Neuser, Green Bay; Theresa (James) Toedter, The Villages, FL; Martha Linsmeier, Cato; Dorothy Linsmeier, Manitowoc. Numerous other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, September 9, 2025 at St. Francis of Assisi on Waldo, 1121 North 14th Street, Manitowoc; military honors will take place at the church following the funeral mass. Burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery. The family will greet relatives and friends at St. Francis of Assisi on Waldo from 9:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m.
