Paul Quandt Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Daves-Culbertson Funeral Home on Oct. 31, 2025.
Paul Max Quandt, Jr., 81, of Winchester and Shelbyville, passed away Tuesday, October 28, 2025, surrounded by family at home.
Max was born July 23, 1944, in Manchester, Tennessee, to Paul Max Quandt, Sr. and Nelle Shasteen Quandt. Max was a graduate of Franklin County High School, Class of 1962, and attended Tennessee Tech majoring in agriculture. He is survived by his wife of almost 57 years, Brenda Young Quandt, daughter Jessica (Pat) Neese, granddaughter Rachel Neese, and sister Joy (Jim) Gallagher. He was preceded in death by his parents and son Paul Max Quandt, III.
As a young boy, Max began farming alongside his father. Like most farmers, he weathered agricultural storms, maintaining the family farms and continuing the legacy for future generations with the help of his beloved family.
A longtime member of state and national Hereford associations, Max was especially interested in the genetics and breeding aspects of the cattle industry. His senior year in Future Farmers of America, he won the State Dairy Award with his herd of Holsteins.
A founding member of the Franklin County Coon Hunters' Club, Max's love of genetics and breeding led him to raise and ship many coon dogs. He also was a fan of dirt track racing and equipment auctions.
Max enjoyed life. He never met a stranger, and his sharp wit poured forth through jokes and stories he loved telling. A man with a big heart, Max loved God and was devoted to his family. A celebration of life service will be held at a later date, as well as interment, which will be in the Hendon Cemetery, on the Quandt homeplace in Decherd. In memory of Max, take your family out to eat and enjoy the fellowship of time spent together.
