Paul Wesley Rainwater was born June 5, 1959 in Stilwell, Oklahoma. He had an older sister, Beverly, and four years later a younger brother, Brian, was born. Paul loved his baby brother greatly, and every night when Paul said prayers he said, "Thank you, God, for sending me my baby."

Paul grew up on the family farm where he helped his daddy, Harold Wesley, spray cattle, rake hay to be baled, mow grass, feed chickens, and do other farm chores. He attended grade school at Zion Elementary School then went to Stilwell High School where he played drums in the band, took part in FFA contests, and participated in other school activities.

He attended NEO A&M in Miami, Oklahoma, for three semesters and then transferred to Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Oklahoma, where he earned a BS in Electrical Engineering. He worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company for years and then worked for TXI of Ohio doing the same type of work from his home in Yukon, Oklahoma.

Paul never knew a time when he did not know Jesus, and all his life he struggled to know Jesus better. He read his Bible, marking verses he especially related to until his Bible was greatly marked up. He talked with other Christians often to try to understand better God's plan for himself and all Christians. He rarely felt he understood God better but continued trying. We Christians need to be careful when we try to explain the Bible to others as Paul began to doubt his salvation. Paul suffered greatly because of this and sought peace with God the rest of his life. Now Paul has peace.

Paul spent the rest of his life at the family home near Tahlequah, Oklahoma where he died on July 29, 2025. He is survived by his mother, Margaret Dotson Rainwater, of Tahlequah. He is also survived by his sister, Beverly Sturgis (husband Kerry), of Carthage, Missouri and his brother, Brian Harold Rainwater (wife Brenda and their son Wesley Dean Rainwater), of Edgewood, New Mexico. He was predeceased by his daddy, Harold Wesley Rainwater, on March 19, 2004, his grandparents, Elmer and Lelia Dotson, of Stilwell, Oklahoma and Newell and Nina Rainwater of Tulsa, Oklahoma.
