Paul Trallis (Travis) Rankins was born December 4, 1964, in Culpeper, VA to the Late Jack & Claria Rankins. His spirit was received into the arms of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on February 16, 2022, joining his parents.
Paul grew up in the city of Bailey's Crossroads, VA where he spent most of his childhood with his mother and brothers. Anyone who knew him, would tell you that he loved the outdoors. From riding bikes to playing basketball, he could always be found outside with his brother and friends. He went to Fairfax County Public Schools until they moved to Arlington County where he graduated from Wakefield High School.
At the age of 17, he found his calling which would lead to a 38-year career in Hospitality. While attending Wakefield High School, he landed his first job as a porter for Jefferson Memorial Hospital. From there, he worked his way through the ranks until he landed his Director of Dinning role. Once achieved, he was able to work and travel all around Northern Virginia doing what he loved. As he developed his skills, he was also able to start a small catering business, which he did on his spare time, simply because he loved being around people and cooking good meals. His passion for people, food and family were well blended into his everyday life. Hospitality was a part of who he was a man which is why he took every aspect of his job seriously.
Paul was also a passionate about sports. He was devoted Redskins fan for the greater part of his life and no matter how many games they lost, he never wavered in his support for the team. This may seem small, but it attributes to the type of man he was. When he supported you, he supported you through thick and thin no matter the challenges you may have faced.
Paul leaves to cherish his memory his three children: Shawn, Sierra, and James; six grandchildren: Jazzy, Elijah, Jazelle, Brian, Bridan, and Cayden; three brothers: Jack, Forrest, and Dennis. Along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and friends who are also mourning the loss of this great man.
On August 17th, 2008, he gave his life to Christ. He strived to make sure he incorporated the Lord in every aspect of his life and to teach his children the importance of having a relationship with Christ. Anyone who knew Paul knew that he was the most loving father, Pop Pop, brother, and friend anyone could ask for and he will be dearly missed.
Funeral Services will be held at Mountcastle Turch Funeral Home, 4143 Dale Blvd., Dale City, VA 22193 – Service info will be updated as it becomes available.

My heart is heavy and my thoughts go out to Paul's family members. From 2010 when I joined Arleigh Burke Pavilion, Paul and I connected immediately through our love of food and the Washington Redskins (at that time) football team. We stayed in touch even texting each other during the games for comments good and bad. I will miss you and think of you often, my friend. Bob
