Surrounded by his loved ones who will carry on his rich legacy of faith, Dr. Paul Joseph Rogers went to be in the presence of His Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, January 24, 2023. A strong man of faith, Dr. Rogers began each day communing with God in the quiet of the morning, and ended each day by gathering his family for Bible time and prayer where each one present was blessed personally.
Born December 1, 1954 in
Cincinnati, OH, the oldest of eight children, Dr. Rogers' leadership skills were exercised daily throughout his formative years. One who thrived on a challenge, he tackled rigorous studies, ran cross country, and graduated from Cincinnati's St. Xavier High School. His academic achievement continued at Northwestern University where he earned a bachelors degree and completed medical school. Striving for excellence, he did his residency and fellowship focusing on cardiology at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN where medical photographer, Barbara Ryan, caught his eye. Paul and Barbara were married on March 26, 1983. They raised six amazing children and helped them find and fulfill their God-given purposes, which they are all thriving in today.
Dr. Rogers' relationship with Christ was the cornerstone of all he did. A faithful member of Southeast Christian Church, he loved to worship God. The merging of his heart for Christ and skill as a doctor was expressed on multiple medical missions trips to Honduras from 2012-2019 where, along with his wife and children, he taught residents and improved a cardiology department.
Dr. Rogers loved helping patients daily as he practiced cardiology for ten years in
Columbus, OH, seven years in
Cincinnati, OH, and fifteen years in
Louisville, Kentucky. His heart of compassion and love for working with Spanish speaking people in Honduras inspired him to work at the free clinic in
Shelbyville, Kentucky. Dr. Rogers made each individual in his life feel like the most important person in the world.
