Obituary of Paul A. Roys
Paul Alan Roys, a dedicated professor and esteemed chairman of the physics department, departed from this world on October 24, 2023, at the remarkable age of 97. Born on April 3, 1926, in Chicago, Illinois.
Paul's life was a testament to a deep love for the pursuit of knowledge, a commitment to education, and a profound sense of family. As a professor and chairman of the physics department, he left an indelible mark on the academic community and the countless students he mentored.
Paul will be profoundly missed by his loving children: Dean (Eloise) Roys, Joan (Kevin) Paumen, and Neal (Julie) Roys. He also leaves behind a legacy of knowledge and a commitment to excellence that will continue to inspire and guide those who had the privilege of learning from him.
Paul was preceded in death by his loving wife, Norma L. Roys, whose companionship brought immeasurable joy to his life, and their son, Mark A. Roys, who was a source of pride and a bond of deep affection between them. His parents also preceded him in passing, their guidance and support leaving an indelible mark on his journey.
A graveside service to celebrate Paul's life will take place on Thursday, November 2, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. The service will be held at Prairie Home Cemetery, located at 605 S Prairie Ave, Waukesha, WI 53186. Family and friends are invited to join in commemorating the life and contributions of Paul Alan Roys.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorials be made in Paul's name to Carroll University, a tribute that will help carry forward his legacy and support the educational institution that held a special place in his heart.
Paul's legacy as an educator, a mentor, and a loving family man will continue to live on in the hearts and minds of all those he touched. May he rest in peace, and may his memory bring solace and inspiration to those who had the privilege of knowing him.
