Paul Alphonso Severini, 85, of Easley, husband of the late Anna Mae Giles Severini, passed away on Thursday, July 18, 2024.
Born in Newark, New Jersey, he was a son of the late Paul W. and Philomenia DiGiovine Severini. Paul lived a remarkable life filled with hard work, love, and cherished moments. Throughout his remarkable 60-year career as an iron worker and as a member of the Steel Workers Union, Paul showcased unwavering dedication and skill. His commitment to his craft was not only evident in the structures he helped build but also in the relationships he cultivated with his colleagues. A proud Italian by heritage, Paul exuded a sense of pride in everything he did. However, it was within his family that Paul found true happiness and fulfillment. A devoted father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, he often spoke of his children and their accomplishments with immense pride. His love for them was unconditional and unwavering. Paul's bond with his beloved wife was a testament to true love; they were inseparable companions whose love stood the test of time. Beyond his professional life, Paul had a variety of interests that brought him joy. From his passion for cars - particularly his cherished 1956 Cadillac - to his talent for fixing things (often with Krazy Glue), he approached every hobby with enthusiasm and skill. Family camping trips and beach excursions were treasured moments that created lasting memories for all who were fortunate enough to join him. For the past six decades, every day at 5:00 held a special tradition for Paul - enjoying a cigar and a shot of Yukon Jack. These simple rituals embodied the essence of who he was - a man who valued tradition, family, and simple pleasures.
He is survived by a son, Paul Severini, Jr. (Priscilla); three daughters, Maria Godfrey (Scott), Jennifer Wilson (Rod), and Bridgett VonLinden; a brother, Ralph Severini; a sister, Linda Prosser; ten grandchildren, Paul Charles Severini, Taylor LaFountain, Mason Alfonso Severini, Patrick Michael Cleary, Meaghan Elizabeth Cleary, Michael Weston Godfrey, Zachary Tyler Wilson, Leona Marie Wilson, Kyle VonLinden, and Jesse VonLinden; and ten great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife and parents, he is preceded in death by a brother, Raymond Severini.
