Paul E. Sisson, 89 of 343 Andros Drive, Sarasota, Florida died Sunday, July 13 at his home.
Paul Eugene Sisson was born on January 31, 1936 in Marshalltown, Iowa to Ralph F. Sisson and Cheryl I. (Showalter) Sisson.
Paul graduated from Waterloo (Iowa) West High School in 1954. He attended Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee and Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls, Iowa. On June 11, 1955 he was united in marriage to Beverly Jean Rinker at the First Methodist Church in Waterloo, Iowa.
Paul, Beverly and their three children moved to Charles City, Iowa on February 1, 1962 where he started a long and successful career as an independent insurance agent, retiring in 2001. Paul was very active in the Charles City community during his business career serving in many capacities. He enjoyed playing basketball, handball, golf, hunting and fishing and in later years gardening, hunting mushrooms and spending time with his family and friends. Paul was an avid fan of the Drake Relays attending for over 50 consecutive years.
Paul is survived by his sons Jeff Sisson of Charles City, Tom (Sherri) Sisson of rural Charles City and daughter Jody (Jon) Vrieze of rural Charles City, six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. He is also survived by sisters Sharla Boros of Coralville, Iowa and Kathy (David) Schollman of Victoria, Minnesota.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Beverly on November 27, 2021, brothers Lowell, Jim and Fr. Duane Sisson, a sister Laura Lea Sisson and a granddaughter Ellie Ann Poolman.
Private family services for Paul will be held at a later date. Inurnment will be at Riverside Cemetery in Charles City, Iowa.
The family prefers memorials be sent to the Floyd County Chapter of the Izak Walton League, P.O. Box 41, Charles City, Iowa 50616.
