Paul Evans Tilson, Jr., 82, of Viera, FL passed away peacefully on July 23, 2024 at Rockledge Regional Medical Center with his loving family by his side.Paul is survived by Patricia, his loving and devoted wife of over 50 years. Loving Father to Michael E. Tilson (Kari), Scott E. Tilson (Debbie). Grandfather to Michael, Chris, Connor, Nick, and Emma. Great Grandfather to Maddie, Carter, and Bailey. Paul was predeceased by his parents Paul E. Tilson, Sr. and Martha Elizabeth, and his brother W. David Tilson.Paul was born in Roanoke, Virginia and lived in Gloucester, Virginia, graduated from Gloucester High School. He graduated from Virginia Tech with a degree in Electrical Engineering – joined the Navy after college as a Navy pilot. He flew many missions with the Hurricane Hunters, VW4, and TACAMO, ending his career working for the National Reconnaissance Office (NRO) in Virginia.During his illustrious Navy career of 28 years, Paul received a Master's Degree in Business Management from the University of Southern California and a Master's degree in Defense Systems Management. Paul retired with the rank of Captain in 1994. After retiring from the Navy, Paul went to work with Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory and Space. Retiring in 2006 and moved to Viera, Florida.Throughout his distinguished naval career, he exemplified leadership, courage, and dedication. He will always be remembered as a kind loving man with a great sense of humor.Paul was a life member of the NRA and MOACC, and a member of the Sons of the American Revolution.He was an engineer at heart who loved guitar, woodworking, leathermaking, jewelry making, building everything, and traveling and cruising with his wife Pat.He enjoyed his family and lifelong friendships. He lived an active life and his optimism endeared him to those he befriended and those he loved.Funeral service will be held at Prince of Peace Anglican Church August 8th at 10:00am with full military honors at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, a donation to Prince of Peace Anglican Church or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.You may sign Paul's guest book at www.beckman-williamson.com.
