Paul "Butch" Wallack Obituary
Paul "Butch" A. Wallack, passed away at the age of 81, February 19, 2024, at St. Mary's Alzheimer's Center in Columbiana, Ohio. Born November 29, 1942, in Canonsburg, Pennsylvania, Paul was the cherished son of the late Paul and Frances D. Okorn Wallack. His final days were spent surrounded by the family he adored, as he concluded a valiant battle with Alzheimer's disease.
Paul's life was a testament to his intelligence, adventurous spirit, and unwavering love. He found his soulmate in Nancy (Seaman) Wallack, and they united in marriage on July 28, 1969. Together, they nurtured a beautiful family, raising their daughter Pamela, who was inspired by her father's compassion to pursue a career in nursing. His legacy of kindness and advocacy for the mentally ill was a constant thread throughout his life.
After graduating from South Fayette High School, Paul dedicated his career to serving others at the Mayview State Hospital outside of Bridgeville, where he worked until retirement. His commitment to the well-being of others was not only evident in his professional life but also in the way he lived each day.
Paul relished the simple pleasures of fishing, reading, and building campfires. His love for walking in the woods with his beloved dogs was matched only by his joy in embarking on grand adventures with his wife. Paul and Nancy's 54 years together were rich with shared experiences, from the sun-soaked beaches of Aruba to the majestic landscapes of Alaska, and the cherished memories created on numerous cruises. Their love was a journey of companionship and mutual adoration.
A lifelong learner, Paul's thirst for knowledge was insatiable. He took college courses alongside his daughter, Pamela, demonstrating that one is never too old to grow and learn. His intellectual curiosity was an inspiration to all who knew him.
Paul's memory will be lovingly remembered by his devoted wife, Nancy Wallack; daughter, Pamela (David) Engel; brother, David (Jean) Wallack, and niece, Melissa (Troy) Maxwell.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Suellen Petrich, and brother-in-law, Charles Petrich.
A celebration of Paul's life will be held at a later date by his family and friends.
