Barry Zachary Wallack, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on August 5, 2025, after a very brief illness. He was diagnosed with Stage 4 pancreatic cancer and died just one week later at his home with his wife and daughter by his side.

Barry’s favorite thing was spending time with his family. He is survived by his treasured wife of 63 years, Sharon; his son, Michael (Deborah), and daughter Wendy, and his adored grandchildren, Connor, Lily, Ian, and Bailey. He is also survived by his sister Carin Rapson.

Barry was born and raised in the Bronx, where he graduated from DeWitt Clinton High School. In the fall of 1958, he travelled west of the Hudson for the first time on his way to the University of Wisconsin. He became a brother in the Alpha Epsilon Pi fraternity, where he made a group of lifelong friends and met Sharon, who would become his soulmate, and they married in 1962.

Barry graduated from the University of Wisconsin Law School in 1965, where he was on the editorial board of the Law Review. He began his legal career at Baker & Daniels, moved to Klineman Rose Wolf & Wallack (where he was managing partner), and then to Wallack & Wallack before becoming a Co-Founding Partner of Wallack Somers & Haas in 1999. His areas of concentration include real estate acquisition, development, leasing, and financing, secured real estate lending, and business transactions.

For many years, Barry was passionate about his sporting endeavors. He was a serious racquetball, tennis, running, hiking, skiing, windsurfing, and travel enthusiast. He was proud of having reached the summit of Mt. Kilimanjaro at the age of 60 with a brand new hip.

Barry and Sharon became snowbirds in Scottsdale in 2010 and became full-time Arizona residents in 2020.

His board memberships included the St. Vincent Foundation and Congregation Beth-El Zedek Foundation. He was recognized in Best Lawyers in America from 1995 until his recent retirement.

A funeral service will be held at 12 PM on Sunday, August 10, 2025, at Aaron Ruben Nelson Mortuary, 11411 North Michigan Road. To view the livestream of the service, CLICK HERE.  Burial will follow in Beth-El Zedeck North Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Schuchman/Napers Memorial Park Beautification Fund at Beth-El or the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network.
