I remember listening to Jazz in the Nighttime on WEBR usually in the evening when we could pick up a signal, in the late seventies and early eighties hosted by Al Wallack. I am sorry to hear of his passing.

Peggy, I am so sorry to hear of your loss. Al was a longtime friend and very talented professional. He also had the best sense of humor of anyone I know. He will be truly missed by many, many people. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Please let me know about his celebration of life.

I offer my heartfelt condolences upon hearing of Al's passing. Al was without a doubt one of the funniest people I have ever known. We spent many hours together at the studio just hanging out many times while he was doing his show. We both worked in the jazz music business. It was during the early days of the Tralf, so we spent many hours working and socializing down there too. I don't know if you remember me but I did meet you, Peggy and Erin, and my daughter Emily and Erin are the same age so the 4 of us did some stuff together. I was so sad when my sister informed me of his passing. Rest in Peace Mr. Jazz.

May I offer my most sincere condolences to Peggy, Erin, and to all of Al's family. Al was a wonderful friend and mentor to so many of us. For decades, countless musicians, promoters, jazz fans and radio people benefited from his talents, hard work, guidance and generosity. Al was one of the most gifted story tellers I will ever know. That, along with his incredible sense of humor and his love of music made him a natural for the radio. Both on-the-air and off, he was the same humble, soft-spoken gentleman whom we all loved and will now sadly miss. Thank you Al, for all that you gave us. You left Western New York (and the world, for that matter) a much better place than you found it! May you rest in peace, my friend.

Way too many years have passed since I left Buffalo and the best people I've known. After a rocky start, Al became my best friend in 8th grade and all the way through LHS; and whenever I came home from college. Every year he would hold it over on me that he was older; by one day. So many great and funny memories. Over the years I related many to my daughter; she once suggested that I take her to Buffalo so she could talk to Al about writing a book about his experiences... damn sorry we didn't. RIP old friend.
