Paul Edward Wirtz, 84 passed away peacefully on June 16, 2023, in Overland Park, Kansas. He was born on December 22, 1938, in Des Moines, Iowa.

Paul will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and a friend by those who knew him. He had a successful career path; he worked for IBM Administrative Management (International Business Machines) for 29 years and later joined Grubb & Ellis Real Estate Management for seven years. Paul had a fantastic work ethic and enjoyed working with his colleagues at IBM.

Paul believed in having strong relationships with loved ones and cherished his mother’s influence on his life. He described Virginia Wirtz as the love of his life and felt incredibly blessed to have her as his wife. He also enjoyed spending time with his children; Karen Renee Wirtz Lien and Tom Paul Wirtz, and grandchildren; Erik Lien and Matthew Lien. The dogs Shire and Mitzi also held a special place in his heart.

Paul had an adventurous spirit; he took pleasure in building the family Lake Cabin at the Lake of Ozarks and spent quality time boating with family. Additionally, he enjoyed exploring nature through cycling on the Katy Trail or visiting national parks in their RV. He was also a dedicated Chiefs fan.

Paul believed honesty, rewarding work ethics, spiritual values (faith and belief in God), being a true friend, always helping others were qualities everyone should possess. He learned discipline while serving in the Army Signal Core from 1958 to 1961.

He graduated high school at Shattuck-St Mary's School in Fairbault MN in 1957 before attending Parsons College from where he graduated in Fairfield Iowa in 1964—an outstanding accomplishment that gave him inner peace throughout life.

Some of Paul’s proudest moments were meeting Virginia when they were married on September 14th in 1968 and watching  his children Karen and Tom graduate from college and pursue their careers. He was thrilled to watch Karen get married to Dave and raise a family.

The visitation, funeral services, and celebration of his life will be held at the Grace Covenant Presbyterian Church, 11100 College Blvd in Overland Park, Kansas on June 29th, 2023. The visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., followed by a Funeral service at 11:00 a.m.,  and celebration of his life at noon.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Grace Covenant Presbyterian Church or the Parkinson Foundation.   Atten: Donor services  (200 SE 1st Ste. 800 Miami, FL  33131)
