Our beloved mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, Paula S. Cortez, affectionately known as "Mom," entered her heavenly home on June 29, 2024 at the age of 75. She was born on August 15, 1948 in San Antonio, Texas to the late parents: Manuel and Julia Salazar.
She met the love of her life, Ysaac, where they married on July 18, 1965, sharing a beautiful union of 59 years. The two raised a family of seven children together.
Paula was a very loving mother and devoted wife. She loved God, and was a devout Catholic and member of the St. Benedict parish.
Paula held many jobs during her work career, from being a wig stylist to working in the pharmacy, carpentry, and simply maintaining her home during her later years. In her spare time, she enjoyed playing many games of BINGO!
Her absence is deeply felt and her physical presence will be sorrowfully missed.
She was preceded in death by her mother: Julia Cantu Salazar, and her husband: Ysaac Cortez Sr.
She leaves to cherish in her memory, her father: Manuel Salazar, her loving children: Maria Harris (Richard), Rebecca Cortez, Ysaac Cortez Jr. (Oralia), Theresa Jimenez (Henry), Leticia Daniels (Rodney), Laura Cortez (Paul Martinez), and Nicholas Cortez, and April Cortez; her siblings: Manual Salazar, Margarita DeLaRosa, Antonio Salazar, Cecilia Gomez, Julia Rodriguez, Ricardo Salazar, Angelita Campos, and Isabel Salazar; 28 grandchildren, 56 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-greatgrandchildren; and many other close relatives and friends.
Remembering a remarkable woman, our mother,
whose laughter and love brightened even the darkest days
and whose warmth and compassion touched the lives
of all who knew her.
We are thankful for the beautiful memories we created together.
Your love was our shelter and your presence was our solace.
We are forever grateful to you.
Even though you're no longer here, your memory remains
etched in our hearts, and we can still feel your love, comfort, and guidance.
We'll always cherish our time together.
Thank you Mom for everything.
Until we meet again, we will miss and love you forever.
"Honor her for all that her hands have done, and let her works
bring her praise at the city gate."
-Proverbs 31:31
"To the shore of ever green,
And we long to see her dear face,
But the river flows between.
Someday, sometime, we shall see
The face we loved so well,
Someday, we'll clasp her loving hand
and never say farewell."
