Paula Marie Hewitt, a beacon of warmth and compassion, passed away at the age of 65 on June 18, 2025, in Midland, Michigan. Born on November 6, 1959, in Bay City, Michigan, Paula grew up in a loving home with parents Raymond and Cheryle (Darling) Hewitt, who preceded her in death, along with her step-brother Jeff Eukle.
Paula's life was one of unwavering devotion to her family, friends, and the community. She is survived by her significant other, Jim Uhan, who stood by her as a partner and best friend. Her bond with her brother, Craig Hewitt, was one of mutual respect and affection. Paula's family circle extended to her Uncle Albert (Mitzie) Hewitt, Aunt Lenoa Wade, and a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews, all of whom will miss her guiding light.
A passionate entrepreneur, Paula was the long-time proprietor of My Brother's Bar, a local establishment that became a hub of camaraderie and community under her stewardship. Her business acumen was matched by her charitable spirit, as she dedicated countless hours to fundraising for area Veteran Organizations, demonstrating her unwavering support for those who served.
Paula's love knew no bounds, particularly when it came to animals. She was a guardian angel for any animal lost or in distress, and her home was a sanctuary for numerous beloved pets over the years. Her dedication to saving turtles and providing them a safe haven in her pond was a testament to her kindhearted nature.
Her hobbies were a reflection of her serene and nurturing personality. Paula found solace in the quiet moments spent with a book in hand, or while knitting and crocheting beautiful pieces for those she loved. Gardening was a cherished activity she shared with her father, fostering growth and life in their shared spaces. Moreover, Paula's joy was palpable as she basked in the sun, embracing the simple pleasure of tanning and the tranquility it brought her.
Loving, generous, and spirited-these words encapsulate the essence of Paula. She approached life with a generous heart, always ready to give of herself without expecting anything in return. Paula's spirit was indomitable, touching the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Paula family wishes to extend heartfelt thank you to the MyMichigan Midland that took special care for her.
Funeral service will be on Tuesday July 1, 2025 at 7pm at Rivertown Funeral Chapel with Pastor Roger Bauer officiating. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 3pm till the time of service.
