RICHFORD - It is with deep sadness and sorrow to announce the passing of Paula Marie (Tracy) Mayhew on June 17, 2024, at Hope Hospice in Cape Coral, Florida, with loving family by her side.
She was 67 years old, born May 1, 1957, in East Richford to the late Philip and Myrna (McNeill) Tracy. She grew up and attended schools in Richford and was a graduate of Richford High School Class of 1975.
She is survived by her husband James Mayhew; son Alan and his wife Melinda; grandsons Tyler and Alias; brothers Darwin Tracy and his wife Sharon, Daniel Tracy, Dennis Tracy and his partner Brandy Miller; sisters Carla Desnoyers and her husband Julian, June Sawtelle and her husband Michael; mother-in-law Anita Mayhew; several nieces, nephews, aunts, and many cousins. She was preceded in death by her beloved daughter Abby; her sister Brenda; her sister-in-law, Jean Begnoche; and her parents.
Paula married the love of her life "Jim" on August 28, 1982. They owned and dedicated their lives to several small businesses over the years in Richford, where she came to know just about everyone in the community and made many good friends and acquaintances. They resided in Richford and raised two children there.
Paula was an avid reader and also enjoyed playing card games with family and friends. She loved large gatherings of family and friends and hosted pool parties and barbeques at their Richford home, as well as in Florida. To stay active during Vermont winters, Paula enjoyed snowmobiling and participating in weekend and overnight adventures. Paula and Jim loved the South and vacationed in Florida throughout their married life, eventually buying a home in Cape Coral to spend winters there and summers in Vermont. She enjoyed her retirement and frequented favorite restaurants and hangouts.
Paula was a dedicated grandmother to her grandsons, spending as much time with them as she could. She was very family-oriented and made time for her family always. She was the fun-loving kid in the family and remained so into her adult life, always teasing or having a funny comment. She will be missed by everyone who knew her.
Family and friends are invited to Paula's celebration of life on Saturday, June 29, 2024 to include visitation from 12 - 2:00 PM with a memorial service at 2:00 PM at the Goss-Spears Life Celebration Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls, VT.
