Pauline Ratcliff Obituary


PAULINE LOUISE WOOD RATCLIFF, 100, of Charleston departed this life Friday, August 15, 2025 at CAMC Memorial Hospital.
She was born August 3, 1925 in Charleston, WV., a daughter of the late, Harry and Julia Nester Wood. Also preceding her in death are her loving husband, Harry Ratcliff; children William, Tom and Carl Ratcliff and Joyce Goodall; sisters Rhoda Applegate and Ruby Wood.
Pauline was a member of the former Davis Creek Church of God and a member of the Daughters of America Revolution (DAR) since 1989. She held many jobs over the years to provide for her family and was also a homemaker.
Those left to cherish her memories include her loving children Lewis Ratcliff (Jerri), Pamela Lewis, Rhoda Jordan and David Ratcliff (Inez); brother Harry Kenneth Wood and Erma Harris; 15 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; 14 great great grandchildren as well as a host of other family and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, August 20, 2025 at Good Shepherd Mortuary, South Charleston, with Pastor Jason Newsome officiating. Pauline will be laid to rest in Spring Hill Cemetery, Charleston, following the service.
Family and friends will gather for a time of visitation Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the mortuary.
