Pearline B. Owens, 86, of Lee County, GA, died August 6, 2025 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be held Sunday, August 10, 2025 at 2:00 pm at Lakeside Baptist Church. Rev. Ken Chancellor and Rev. Andrew Kornegay will officiate. Interment will follow in Sunnyside Cemetery in Cordele, GA
Pearline was born in Cordele, GA on October 10, 1938 to Lee Raymond and Nettie Albritton Bowen. She grew up in Cordele, graduated from East Crisp High School and was the Homecoming Queen her senior year in 1956. She married William Lamar Owens the same year and they lived in Cordele and Tifton before moving to Albany, GA in 1969. Pearline was a homemaker, mother and wife but also was employed with Albany Lawnmower and The State of Georgia. She moved to Lee County, GA in 1984 and was a member of Lakeside Baptist Church and The Fellowship Sunday School Class. The friendships from her Sunday School class and her church grounded Pearline in her faith and dedication to serving others. Pearline was a woman of immense warmth and love, especially when it came to her family. Her kitchen was the heart of her home, filled with the delicious aromas of her legendary banana pudding and cornbread. She nourished everyone she loved with her wonderful cooking and her unwavering affection. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Lamar Owens, her sister, Eunice Gibbs and her son, Randy Owens.
Survivors include her sons, Tony Owens of Lee County, GA, and Chris Owens (Dee Ann) of Cleveland, GA, her daughter-in-law, Kay Owens of Cordele, GA, her grandchildren, Wes Bennett (Kathy) of Cordele, GA, Meagan Owens of Albany, GA, Don Owens (Amy) of Columbia, TN and Jonathan Owens of Goodlettsville, TN, Matthew Owens (Amberly) of Loxley, AL, and Justin Owens (Mandy) of Albany, GA, ten great-grandchildren and her sisters, Joyce Presley of Cordele, GA and Jeanette West (Jim) of Lake City, FL.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm at Lakeside Baptist Church.
