Pebble Lucille Murray died August 27, 2024 at Aspire Care Center in Oak Grove, Missouri. Pebble was born March 24, 1933 in Leeton, Missouri to Lee and Thelma Phelps. She was welcomed by two sisters, June and Lois. The family moved to a farm north of Holden where she went to grade school in the country school nearby. She went to College High at Warrensburg, Missouri for two years. The family then moved again to a different farm north of Holden.
Pebble then attended Holden High School and graduated in 1950. Pebble attended Graceland College in Lamoni, Iowa where she met Alfred Kinney. They were married in 1952 and were the parents of 2 daughters and 2 sons. They lived on a farm in Pleasant Hill, Missouri. They left the farm and moved to Odessa, Missouri where they bought and ran a Western Auto Store. They were divorced in 1972. Pebble went to work for Western Auto in Kansas City and raised her children.
She met Everett Adkins and they were married in 1978, residing in Blue Springs, Missouri. After they retired they enjoyed traveling all over the United States going to sales and buying old clocks. Everett would fix them so they ran and Pebble refinished them.
After Everett passed, Pebble started attending Vesper Hall in Blue Springs for lunch. During this time, she met Ed Murray. They enjoyed each other so much that they were married and lived in Blue Springs and then Oak Grove, wintering in Texas where they ran music jams five days a week all over the Rio Grande Valley. When their health failed, they moved to Parkway Care Center. Ed passed in 2022.
Pebble was a member of the Community of Christ church, formerly the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
Pebble was preceded in death by her parents, sister June Schmoll, and daughter Cindy Hiles. She is survived by son Doug (Yvette) Kinney of Grain Valley daughter Debbie (Bruce) Whitsitt of Odessa, Mo, and son Claude (Jessica) Kinney of Calagry, Canada, son-in-law Bill Hiles of Bates City, MO, sister Lois Shaw of Barbados, West Indies, and brother Adrain (Carolyn) Phelps of Holden, Missouri along with seven grandchildren and nine great grand children.
