Sharon Hope Root, 76, of Grain Valley, Missouri, passed away on Saturday, August 9, 2025 at Pleasant Hill Health & Rehab. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 17th at Royer Funeral Home in Grain Valley; burial in Valley Memorial Gardens, Grain Valley. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
Sharon was born October 9, 1948, in Boonville, Missouri, the daughter of Bobby and Florence Hope (Adair) Hoerl. She married Herb Root on June 17, 1967. She and her husband operated Herb Root Concrete for 35 years. Sharon enjoyed traveling, gambling, scrapbooking, spending time with family and friends at Lake of the Ozarks, and taking her grandbabies on road trips. She was also very involved in the Elks Lodge.
Sharon's survivors include three children: Joy Hightower of Independence, MO, Tony Root (Teresa) of Bevier, MO, and Shelly Root of Urich, MO; six grandchildren: Jake, Kasey, Chantz, Josie, Kary Jo, and Tisha; ten great-grandchildren; four brothers: Jim Hoerl (Debbie) of Kansas, Jerry Hoerl (Julie) of Raytown, MO, Tommy Hoerl of Blue Springs, MO, and John Hoerl of Grain Valley, MO; and many other extended family members. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 43 years, Herb.
