"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will award to me on that day." – 2 Timothy 4:7-8

Peggy Ann Turner Batie was born on October 6, 1957, in Mobile, Alabama, to the late Deprest Oscar Turner, Sr. and the late Mary Vestin Taylor Turner. On August 27, 2025, Peggy answered the Master's call and went home to be with the Lord.

Peggy gave her life to Christ at an early age and remained a faithful believer throughout her journey. She was a dedicated member of Cody Road Seventh Day Adventist Church, where her love for God and others shined brightly.

She was educated in the Mobile County Public School System and graduated from Murphy High School. She later attended Bishop State Community College. Peggy went on to have a successful career, retiring from International Paper Company, where she proudly became one of the first Black women to work in the Power House. Even after retirement, she continued to work at Academy Sports until her health no longer allowed.

Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, David Turner, and two sisters, Bonnie J. Dyer and Dorothy M. Jackson.

She leaves to cherish her precious memories: her husband, Rev. Robert Batie, her devoted son, Terrance L. Turner; one beloved grandson, Niguel Sebastian Turner; one step-granddaughter, Jazlyn Wilson; her siblings, Willie Mae Russell, Melvina Labyzon, Nailre (Michael) Windham, Annie (Karl) Gillian, all of Mobile, Alabama; Luther (Damita) Turner of Virginia; Dave Turner, and Deprest (Karen) Turner, Jr. of Mobile, Alabama; a devoted niece Nicole (Juan) Peasant, and nephew, Warren Stone, Jr., a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Peggy's life was a true reflection of her faith, resilience, dedication, and class. Her smile would light up a room and warmed the hearts of all who knew her. She will be deeply missed and forever lovingly remembered.
