Peggy Ann Buchanan

Peggy Ann Buchanan, age 86 of Waverly, TN, passed away on Monday, September 8, 2025, at Humphreys County Care and Rehab. Peggy was born on May 11, 1939, to the late Samuel Cleather Buchanan and the late Eula Bell Lofton Buchanan. She was born in Waverly, TN and was a lifelong resident of Humphreys County, TN. She graduated from Waverly Central High School in 1959. She became a member of Bakerville Church of Christ in 1954 and was baptized in the Buffalo River. Shortly after graduation her health declined, and she was unable to live alone. She had the privilege of being dearly loved and cared for by her parents, siblings, and family until she became a resident of Humphreys County Care and Rehab in October 2020, where staff and residents became her extended loving family. Peggy loved animals, bird watching, crafting, attending gospel singings, playing bingo, and worship services. Peggy had a very gentle, humble and kindhearted spirit and she loved her family, friends, and caregivers dearly.
Left to cherish Peggy's memory is her brother, Clyde Buchanan (Brenda); 3 nieces, Kay Nichols, Carol Mullinax (Tim), and Shannon Binkley; 5 great nieces, Natasha Breeden, Kayla Garner, Tinika Francis, Leshae Carney, and Cheyenne Nichols; great nephew, Tyler Binkley; 10 great-great nieces and nephews, Trevor, Blakely, Christian, Arabella, Haisley, Beau, Delray, Jasper, Coleson and Beau. She also has numerous extended family and friends left to cherish her memory. Peggy is preceded in death by her parents, Samuel Cleather and Eula Bell Lofton Buchanan; brother, Larry Eugene Buchanan; 5 sisters, Grace Buchanan, Irene Buchanan, Louise Buchanan, Nancy Jackson and Lonnie Scaggs; 4 half-brothers, Egbert Buchanan, George Buchanan, Luther Buchanan and Robert Buchanan; niece, Lisa Scaggs Damesworth; and great niece, Brooklyn Mullinax. Peggy was loved by so many and will be dearly missed.
Visitation for Peggy will be held on Saturday, September 13, 2025, at Luff-Bowen Funeral Home in Waverly, beginning at 11:00 A.M. until the time of service at 1:00 P.M. with Bro. Jeff Keele officiating. Interment to take place at McKeel Cemetery in Cuba Landing, TN.
