Peggy C. Conlee, age 89, passed away on April 7th, 2025. This was a sad but happy day for Peggy. She left her loved ones behind, but she was finally home, home with God and her loved ones that had gone before her. Peggy was a Godly woman who never strayed from His love. Anytime she had a fear, she placed it in His hands. She gave Him all the praise for the joys in her life. Peggy was a classy lady in every sense of the word, always very well put together. She enjoyed reading a good book. Peggy studied her bible everyday without fail. Family was more precious to Peggy than anything that could be bought and given to her. She loved her entire family and always had open arms for each of them.
Peggy was stern when she needed to be, but her children were always thankful for those life lessons. Anytime you came to her home it was always top notch clean. You never sat on her bed, and only the grandchildren could touch anything and get away with it. She prided herself on the way that her home was always ready for guests at any moment. Peggy's love for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were impeccable. She truly loved being a Mawmaw and her grandchildren could do anything and everything at Mawmaw's house. Family holidays were a guarantee, and nobody ever left without a full belly; if you did that was your own fault. Peggy gave everything to everyone and everything that she did, and she expected the same in return. Her cooking came from the heart and was made with love. Her family loved her one-of-a-kind potato salad, cast iron hamburgers, and her recipe for banana pudding that was passed down from her mother. Peggy's pantry was always stocked with the best cookies, sweet pickles, and snack cakes. She had a saying for just about anything and she was known for using a few of her favorites such as "different strokes for different folks", "bless your heart", and her most famous one "don't touch". Peggy and her late husband were married for 46 years and had eight children. She always kept it together for her family and did whatever it took to get things done for her children. Four of Peggy's children were married within the same year, within three months of each other, and two of those being on the same day. Her title as mother and matriarch is and always be well respected by her family.
Peggy is preceded in death by her parents, Robert & Loudelia Dunbar, husband, Fred H. Conlee Sr., siblings; William Dunbar & Cloma May Bell, one daughter-in-law, Virginia Conlee, one son-in-law, Phillip, two grandchildren, Christina Fowler & Zachary McKinney, and two great-grandchildren, George McKinney & Michael Conlee. She is survived by her eight children: Patsy Conlee, Barbara Conlee, Gary Conlee, Sherry Oyerides (Jose), Denise Ridings (Pete), Sandra Cooper (Norman), Fred Conlee Jr. (Kathy), and Cloma Fowler (Wesley), twenty-five grandchildren, forty-seven great-grandchildren, and eighteen great-great-grandchildren.
